GYNAECOLOGIST AND OBSTETRICIAN WITH SPECIAL INTEREST IN FERTILITY
“I really have been blessed and feel very privileged to be involved in the field of Obstetrics. I believe in the holistic approach to paregnancy and believe that it involves a close relationship between myself, my patient and her partner. I believe in listening to my patients, and guiding them through this special time of their life.” Dr T Berios
His main area of interest in gynaecology is minimal invasive surgery, which includes all hormonal disorders, such as POCS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), premature ovarian failure and menstrual abnormalities. He has been very privileged to have attended many local and international congresses and workshops where he has been able to hone his skills in the area of uro-gynaecology (repair of vaginal prolapse and stress incontinence), which unfortunately is a very common problem and which patients tend to be too embarrassed to discuss and therefore ignore.
As well as speciality gynaecology, Dr Berios also offers his patients general gynaecology services i.e. Annual Pap Smear, contraceptive advice, Menopause treatment, heavy or painful period issues or any other concerns you may have.
Through continuous self-education and training, Dr Berios can offer his patients up to date and the best appropriate treatment options. He is accredited with the Foeto-Maternal Foundation in London to perform the Nuchal Translucency scans (done at about 11-13 weeks to exclude Downs Syndrome) as well as accreditation to perform the 20 week Anatomical Scan.
He has also completed the level 1 and 2 laparoscopic, minimal invasive laparoscopy course offered by ECRES as well as the Primary Level Reproductive Endoscopic surgery examination held in Geneva, offered by the ESHRE.
Dr Berios strongly believes in keeping abreast of all new developments in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaelology and is therefore a member of the following societies, South African Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists , Southern African Society of Reproductive Medicine and Endoscopy, South African Urogynaecology Society.
